truckin

after several days spent in athens, then in rome seeing many of the ancient ruins, art, architecture, and lovely southern european women, i have taken the train north to zurich, switzerland. this town may have more to offer than at first glance, still i’m somewhat relieved to be in a city where things are much too expensive for me to consider buying anything or eating lavish meals and where i am inclined to just lay by the local lake and relax a bit. my mind has been swamped with images from the near and distant past—from museums of fine art to archeological sites, it is time to digest some of what i’ve seen before it all blurrs into a tangled memory of a two-week excursion.

the train and ferry rides were very good for this as they offered wonderful landscapes and clear blue waters, open and easy for mental processing.
i had to disregard so many sights and so much information if only to enjoy part of the whole.

sites: parthenon, highest point in athens (name forgotten), various greek ruins, pantheon, trevi fountain, st.peters cathedral, castel st. angelo, others..?.

museums: 2 museums Den Haag, stedelijk museum, rijksmuseum, van gogh museum, vatican museum, athens archeological museum, museum borghese, rome contemporary art museum, shelly/keats museum, a couple i’ve forgotten…..
