Background
Greg Gehner received a BFA in metalsmithing/blacksmithing from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He followed college with work for professional blacksmiths as well as a variety of jobs in Vermont and New York which added depth to his construction and metal working skills. In 2005, he established Transit Forge in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania where he generates a variety of sculptural, functional and architectural metalwork and also teaches blacksmithing and fabrication. Commissions and unique designs have included furniture, railings, signage, lighting and numerous utilitarian objects. His work synthesizes traditional forging skills and industrial fabrication techniques with a contemporary aesthetic.
